Working on increasing your internet marketing profits? Then, it is about time you develop an effective social media marketing plan. Social media and networking sites are powerful tools that can help you generate free advertising and online traffic. If done optimally, social media advertising can score you hundreds to thousands of internet visitors per day.
Choosing your Marketing Platform
There are highly popular websites that can serve as integral parts of your social media marketing plan. Don’t just pick any site that hosts social content. Remember to choose tools that are most appropriate and compatible with your target market. For your information, social media and networking sites have specific and, sometimes, exclusive demographics.
For example, majority of the 12 million Pinterest users are females. This site attracts people who wish to see storylines in the form of pictures and albums. You can use LinkedIn if you want to establish business-to-business connections. If you really want viral marketing, of course you can use the well-renowned Facebook and Twitter. Facebook has almost 1 billion users worldwide. The good thing with this site is its capability to host groups, fan pages and online conferencing among users. This is the best place to find and build a community of common interests, especially for those that are relevant to your business venture. Marketing also gets viral with Facebook because favorited posts will be viewed by the contacts of the people who liked them.
Twitter, on the other hand, is the best place for real time interaction between you, your customers and prospects. The site has more than 555 million users, and many among them access the website through mobile devices. Advertising is light and easy with Twitter because of the limited length of content, making them easily accessible even by relatively slower mobile internet.
Use a combination of these sites to cover the demographics that resulted from your social media marketing plan. And regularly post new content so that your contacts will see you every day.
Implementation Stage
Now that your target audience and sites are clear with you, it is time to enter the plan implementation phase. Your marketing campaign must cover the various aspects of advertising such as visual design, construction of quality content (which may be in the form of articles(article marketing), images, videos or Flash material), copywriting and layout. If you have a global market, your advertising team should also meticulously deliver the right content to target geographic foci. You must have another team dedicated to giving creative inputs for the creation of top-quality ads.
Afterwards, your team must always stay updated with the latest ROIs and social content technologies available. Your social media marketing plan does not end with simply selecting websites that have millions of users. You should exploit the features of these sites in order to gain maximum visibility. You should be on-the-watch whenever the sites release marketing friendly features.
Cross-Integration
Social media and networking sites are powerful advertising tools, but they are not stand-alone systems for online advertising. You must combine them with traditional marketing strategies to boost your visibility and potential for income. It is smart to combine social sites with search engine-optimized websites. In fact, it is a chicken-and-egg relationship between the two. Sites that are promoted through social content are likely to receive good ranks from search engine algorithms.
Social content also gets more powerful when you use them hand-in-hand for producing referrals. For example, YouTube may host the “media-heavy” content, like videos and music. At the same time, YouTube allows you to produce interactive speech bubbles and links while the video is playing. The links would then ideally lead to your plain text articles. Your Facebook and Twitter accounts, in turn, can promote the YouTube video links. YouTube videos can be played in these sites seamlessly.
The process of creating a social media marketing plan is dynamic. There are no strict rules to follow when advertising through socially generated content. It is not a “one size fits all” scheme, and it requires you to constantly upgrade your strategies to keep your online business visible. Just play the trial-and-error game to finally arrive at a setup you are most profitable with. You will see that with some diligence and luck, you can significantly increase your earnings through social media.

Hi Fred,
You gave several creative ideas in this post. I especially agree with you about cross promotion. That is is what I’ve been doing between my social media sites as well as my blog. Currently on my blog I have an socially interactive wp commenting plugin called Cackle. This is an awesome plugin that allows my visitors to post comments to my blog, while at the same time cross posting to their FB walls or Twitter account (or any other social network they choose).
This has been doing wonders for my social traffic and it’s significantly increased my engagement and interaction on my Facebook page.
Thanks for sharing your insights with us on BizSugar.com. I appreciate you!

Hi Fred,
These is a very informative post. Now I know how to correctly choose my marketing platform.
The cross promotion is good if your Facebook and Twitter followers have the same interests as you have. Problems occur when you and your followers have different interest, and you don’t want them to read your comments in other platforms.
All in all, a highly informative article. Kudos!
Thank you Jena for your thoughts..I appreciate you feedback and I am glad you enjoyed the post. When it comes to marketing on the net, everyone’s general idea is about the same on the topic so no worries on who will like or benefit from you comment. The more you know the better anyways.
