It’s easy to set up a website or a blog, but it’s not always easy to gain an audience who will regularly check on your site to make it popular. Sometimes it’s hard to think of ways to improve your site or what else you should do to make it “not just another site” and make it stand out. But the thing is, the ways are endless, and nothing’s ever really hard if you really want it bad enough. Here are some tips that you can follow to increase your website traffic.
1. Search Engine Optimization
It’s the number one way to make people check out your site. Find a company/person who offers SEO/SEM services and see how much you can pay for it. It might cost you some money, but if it’ effective enough to make people visit your site, then it is highly recommended. It’s a subtle way of saying “come, check out my website.” I would high recommend DiTesco’s SEO Consulting service.
2. Social Networking
Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook are great websites to promote your site… Create a Facebook fanpage, link your blog site to the page and surely your online viewership would shoot up. You can also add it on your Twitter bio, tweet about it a few times in a day, and ask people to check out your site. It’s easy and is a surefire way to give you an audience.
3. Pinterest
Pinterest is another website which you can use to market your site. Pin photos from your blog or website on Pinterest, put in the right tags, and see more people check out your site. It’s also a subtle way of marketing, which is good, because hard-selling does not always work for everyone.
4. Google Analytics and Webmaster Tool
It’s important to have Google Analytics and Webmaster Tool so you know how many people are checking out your blog. It’s a good way of knowing if something’s going on, or if your target audience is increasing. At least you could monitor what’s going on with your website and think about what else you could do with it. Without a it, you will not really be sure about the number of people who are checking out your website.
5. Paid Banner Advertising
Online banners are like commercials in real life—meaning, if someone is interested in a certain product, then he or she can google it and have access to your site, as well.
If someone advertises on your website, then surely your website traffic will go up, and people will also be checking the ads on your site. This could be a good partnership that works both ways wherein both you and your advertiser can reap the benefits.
6. Content
Of course, if you have nothing on your website, or it’s just a truckload of spam posts, then how would you attract netizens? You have to make sure that whatever’s on your website is substantial and that it sounds smart and relatable. You want to attract an audience, not drive them away.
7. Online Magazines
There are sites such as openzine or ezine that allow regular people to create their own online magazines. Create one and write about your blog or website and tell people about its strengths and reasons why they should visit the site. It’s easy, creative, and not spam-like.
8. Promos and Contests
Having promos and contests on your site is also good to attract people to keep coming back to your site. It can be as simple as giving away gift cards, or maybe even simple items of their choice. Start small, and you’ll see, you’ll end up with a bigger audience in no time.
9. Newsletters
One classic and surefire way to get an audience is to send e-mail newsletters using an auto-responder. Make sure that people can subscribe to your site so that you’d be able to get their addresses and send them newsletters from time to time, this is how you start building an email list. You can also ask your subscribers to forward the newsletters to friends and colleagues.
10. Word of Mouth
No one will get to know your site if you don’t talk about it, so make sure that you talk about it enough (not too much) and let them know why they should check it out. Have people who follow your site write something about it in their own blog posts, tweets, and facebook posts and best of all, guest posting. Soon, their followers will be your followers too.
Hopefully these tips will help you build up more website traffic. Nothing that’s worthwhile is ever easy. So don’t worry, keep on doing what you are supposed to do and soon enough, you will see those numbers climbing.

Good tips Fred and all are worthy. However, just a pinch, you listed Google Analytics and Webmasters with among the tips to increase traffic. GA and GW will help you to track your progress and find where you need to work more, but counting them as traffic increasing tools is something odd, isn’t it?
You are right Suresh but by doing that, meaning improving your SEO, it will get you more traffic over time which in my opinion is more powerful but you are right as well as far as improving site visibility and performance. Thanks for sharing and definitely appreciate your feedback.
I agree with you about content. To me that’s more important than seo. If you depend on Google’s algorithm for traffic then you already have a problem. Spend that time advertising while you deliver high quality and highly readable content. And remember too, quality is more valuable than quantity. At least, it is in the long run.
I agree with everything you said especially ” quality is more valuable than quantity” well said Jose and thanks for sharing.
I’m actually fairly new at increasing blog traffic and seo in general so these tips are a great help. Will definately be adding you to my bookmarks and visiting more often now that I found you. Thanks Again.
no problem Roben. Thanks for the comment

No problem Michael. Thanks for stopping by.
Update your blog continually so that your fans that do start trickling in have the need to keep on reading your posts. Updating your blog minimum twice a week is considered o.k. But if you update more constantly then it is even better for everybody all round.

Great question Shayari. All backlinks are weighted differently. Some are spam, some are low quality, some are high quality. Even if you have a high quality backlink, it can depend on the relevancy of the site… There are so many ways. You just have to do you homework and see where you competitors backlinks are coming from and beat them with quality backlinks. sometimes you do not have to get backlinks because your domain is strong enough… I have this explain a little bit.
thanks for stopping by Shayari.
